The SuperNovae at high Z
The SuperNovae at high Z (SNaZ) is a Director's Discretionary program on HST in Cycle 10-11 to search for supernovae of Type Ia at high redshifts (z>1.0) by using suitable WFPC2 fields from approved GO's programs. Programs of interest are those that require long exposures (t> 2000 seconds, with some CRSplits or dithers), the use of the F814W filter, and which target high galactic latitude fields with little foreground. Once a suitable field is selected the Director gets in contact with the PI of the program and asks for his/her approval to reobserve their fields roughly a month after the original observations and look at the difference images for new SN. Permission is also asked to look at the header of their first data set to determine the characteristics needed to re-observe the same field later. All proprietary rights that GOs have are preserved.
