Personal Review :
Excellent. Don't be fooled by the drawn shades and strip mall exterior look.
This is a very nice restaurant inside. And don't let the lack of people
startle you when walking in. It won't last long. Within minutes of each
time we've been to Szechuan House for lunch to order take-out or eat-in, the
place was mobbed. The food is very good, doesn't take long to prepare (you
might wait 10-20 minutes depending upon how busy they are), and they give you
plenty of all the accoutrements. Prices are not outrageous either.
The Orange Chicken was not quite as perky as I like it, but then, the Thai peppers they include will definitely warm you up if you bite into them; and the Shrimp Chow Mein was a little bland. But everything else has been just great. While waiting for your take-out or a table, you may sample the Pistachio nuts or wonton layed out for you. They also provide a container of cold tea.
Recently, we stopped by for an eat-in lunch and it was great. We ordered Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and Sha-Cha Chicken (with soup and egg roll included in this days chicken special), both of which were among the best we've had. The Hot and Sour soup was very good, the best I've had, and with more content than I've seen before. At the end of the lunch, the waitress brought a warm towl for each of us to wipe our hands, then followed with a complimentary desert of rainbow sherbert with fortune cookie...just the right way to top off the meal and sooth any still burning tongues from the hot peppers. The entire lunch for the two of us was only about $12...a great deal to say the least, with top-notch service to boot. This also appears to be a place for regulars as many seem to be on a first name basis.
Without a doubt, a real winner and a place worth visiting frequently for a good Chinese food experience. Enjoy.
