Personal Review :
12 July 1999: The Riverwatch has been touted as one of the finest
restaurants in the area, and has been the site of the Rodericks for Breakfast
show as well as a visit from Regis Philbin. We visited the Riverwatch a second
time recently and were indeed treated to a very nice afternoon lunch with
good food and a nice water view. Getting into the restaurant can be a bit of
a challenge for the handicapped, however...unless there is a way around the
deck. One must enter into an area close to the bar, complete with having to
run the gaunlet of smoke, step up a step or two, walk about 20 feet in a rather
dark hallway, then step back down to the restaurant area again. Although she
managed ok, my elderly mother had to go pretty slow and escorted. The meal
was about to be ruined by the smell of smoke in the non-smoking area as well
until I realized the door to the bar (access for the bartender/servers) was
open. Our waitress did see to it that the door was closed upon our request
which made our stay a bit more pleasant. However, we were subjected, once
again, to smoke from diners on the deck overlooking the water just beyond
a wall of sliding glass door panels. It wasn't overpowering, but doesn't make
ones dining as pleasurable. Service was good, albeit a bit slow. Prices were
moderate to expensive.
