Personal Review {01 March 2004}:
Another great little, unique restaurant bites the dust. We're not really
sure what happened yet, but Peppercorns closed late last year with a sign
saying they were 'temporarily closed.' However, on our last pass a couple
days ago, they were still closed and there is a For Sale sign in the
window. What a shame.
Personal Review {19 December 2001}:
If you're out and about, antiquing or just wandering, you
should make time to stop in at Peppercorns in Shrewsbury, PA.
Shrewsbury is really not all that far away, just 20 minutes
from the beltway up I83. We roam around Shrewsbury often on
antique hunting trips. Peppercorns is a great place to stop
for a respite and a bit to eat. The restaurant is in one of
the old main street row homes. They serve some great sandwich
combinations and their own home-made soups. One simply goes
to the counter to order, sits down at one of the 5 or 6 tables
downstairs, or for larger groups, a few larger tables upstairs,
and wait for your sandwich selection combo to be brought to
your table. The soup is usually a very good corn chowder, but
occasionally other soups are available, most recently, a black
bean and pork soup that was wonderful. Prices are very reasonable,
and the staff friendly. The only drawback is that there is little
handicap access. The bathrooms are up some very steep, narrow
stairs and arent' all that safe to negotiate for healthy people.
But, you certainly won't be disappointed. We've stopped here
frequently over the past 2-3 years and have always received good
consistent service and quality.
