BULLETIN!!! :
{09-September-2003}:
Ming's is CLOSED! Horrors. We drove by for another of their
great meals and found the placed locked and a note on the door.
After 26 years of operation, the owner was thanking his patrons
for their loyalty over the years. He said it was time for him
to retire. At the end of the note he stated "As for me, I am
going fishing."
What a loss this will be for this area. Ming's (as the reviews presented below) was one of the best and most pleasant Chinese restaurants in which to enjoy a fine meal. The environment was perfect. Ming's, we will miss you.
Personal Reviews :
{24-Aug-2002}:
Again, you can't lose at Ming's. We stopped by last week treated ourselves
to two great entrees, the Yu Shiang Shrimp (shrimp, bamboo shoot in garlic & ginger sauce) [spicy, but overly so] and the Ming's Seafood Delight (lobster
meat, scallops & shrimp in lobster sauce). Both were very tasty and plentiful
(we took home leftovers which were eaten for lunch the next day). The service
was, as always, very good. Still a great place to eat, and quiet too. While
the outside surroundings seem to have 2-3 closed up businesses, you shouldn't
let that deter you from visiting Ming's.

Last night we stopped in at Ming's and were treated to a very good
dinner. The quality seems to have improved in our last 2-3 visits.
The dinner this evening was served in covered dishes from which you may
spoon your entree onto your plate (as is the normal tradition). We started with
the Egg Drop soup and Hot and Sour soup. Both were excellent. For
our entrees, we shared the Rice Noodle-Singapore style (a large portion
of rice noodles in light curry combined with shredded pork, shrimp, green
peppers and onions) and the Shrimp w/Snow Peas, Mushrooms & Vegs. Both
were a very tasty change from our normal fare and there was plenty left
over for lunch the next day. A complementary desert of orange sherbert
and fortune cooky was provided at the end of the meal, just after a nice
hot towel was brought to the table to clean our hands. Our dinner was
very reasonably priced at a total of $30. An intriguing and interesting
addition to the menu is their new "Ming's Low Fat Menu" section. Lots of good
looking items
there containing no MSG, less or no oil and less salt. On this trip the
service was very good and the atmostphere was pleasant. Again, not many
people. Why, I'm not sure; perhaps because it was a week night. You're
really missing a good place to eat if you don't go to Ming's every now and
then.
{10-Oct-2000}:
Many years ago, my wife and I visited Ming's based upon a recommendation
from a friend and came away very pleased. Although a little on the pricy
side, from what I recall, we had no complaints. Recently, we stopped by
again for a lunch meal. Not too many people around. The atmosphere was
very pleasant and the service was good, although perhaps a bit slow in
receiving our orders. Entree's are served on the plate
for an individual's order as opposed to a covered dish from which one
may spoon in however much or whatever one desires (if more than one item
is ordered, for example). Each entree we had was very good, just unusual
in the way it was served. One might make the point the entree doesn't stay
as hot as it might if served in a covered container, but we didn't really
let it sit that long. While I wouldn't classify Ming's as excellent, it is
very good providing a pleasant dining atmosphere.
