Palm Download Problems

I ran into problems with the Palm download app, but I hope I have them solved. The first problem was Mac wants records separated by carriage returns (^M) rather than newlines (^J). That was not totally unexpected. The second is that it's persnickety about the associated file type. It will take SimpleType (?) or Excel files, but not others.

Miscellany

I looked at a user request to install a TWiki plugin. It seems our installation is too far out of date. We should move to a more modern installation on greenink and enable multiple sites. I did some final Par testing with Greg and I answered Jessicas's questions about the WFC3 site. I also did a little more testing on the Palm download.

More PAR Bugs

I investigated a problem in the par application that turned out not to be a problem. It looked like the code wasn't removing ampersands from the branch names. This is a problem because ampersands in text are not legal under the strict xhtml standard. It turns out, that the application only updates a subset of pars, the current year before the goal freeze date. I also created cos and stis forums on the bulletin board.

Test and More test

I spent the morning testing the new ldap to palm code and got it working. In the afternoon I tested the par application in different browsers. I found a bug in the participant exclusion code.

Other Work

I finished the change to the wfc3 page and sent it off for Jessicaa's approval. I started debugging the new LDAP Palm code and solved some problems, but still am wondering why there is no phone number and what the problem with the title is.

Debugging

We ran throught the procedure to create the test database from production, ran into a few problems, and fixed them. There were some permission problems in the application due to a recent change, which we fixed. I worked on the wfc3 front page, but had some problem centering the text.

Miscellaneous

I resolved Mike Wigg's problem, which turned out to be due to a corrupted directory. I fixed some final problems with the par application and started into the end to end testing. I got stopped by a permissions problem. I started work on Jessica's request for changes to the wfc3 folder.
