More Debugging

I did some more code sleuthing on the ldap amanger problem. Still no clues. Will add logging to Zobject.caanControl() on Monday.

Debugging LDAP Manager

I spent the day trying to debug the problem with ldap manager that keeps Patrick from using it, It looks like admins are given the role of ANON for some unknown reason.

Performance Testing

I started doing performance test for ZWiki using torture, but it wasn't giving credible results. So I switched over to using Apache benchmark (ab). I ran two test cases, reading a page and editing a page, from omaha.

Timeout

I fixed the problems with the mail alias file parser in the morning. In the afternoon I looked at the newsfeed hang problem. M way of handling the problem, setting an alarm and a signal handler for it, doesn't work because Zope doesn't allow you to set signal handlers. I goggled and found another approach, globally setting the timeout on sockets, but haven't tested it yet.

Checking and Testing

I wrote a script to check the Apache log files for errors from the SIC chat room script. There weren't any. Otto and Matt got back to me about the aliases file. It seems there's at least on bug still in the alaiases script. And I may misunderstand how the aliases file should work. So I'll have to talk with them some more.

Caching

I worked on the problem of caching the rss feed from the newscenter. I've got a revised version of rss.py, but it doesn't seem to be writing the cache file. I also looked at a problem a customer is having with a timeout rror in Zope.

This and That

I tested my alias code, made a few minor changes, and sent the results off to Matt and Otto to ask for advice. Jessica Kim had some questions about the bulletin board and Leigh and I explained it to her. Steve asked me to look at chaching the OPO press release when their system is down.

Adminitrivia

Scoped the large files project, did the schedule for the ldap email project, tested two Zope moves, and did more work on the alias file parsing.
