LDAP Woes

Bobby asked me to move the hfellows ldap record from MailRecipients
to People. When I tried to do this, ldap said no, the record already
exists in the People. All attempts to find the record and/or delete it
failed. I looked at the Zope source code and the error message in
STLDAPManager is generated by a failure to add a record. So for now
I'm stumped.

Sarah has started the installation of the new Sage hardware.

Twill Again

I went back to installing twill. I read up on the python
installation problem and figured out how to bypass the attempt to
install code in protected directories. So I got twill installed for my
use, but ran into library dependencies. I downloaded the libraries
twill required and installed them as well, but the installation
greated .egg files. I am not familiar with these files and will have
to study up on them.

The Sage DB hardware arrived today and installation should occur
this week.

Testing and Waiting

I asked Vera about the status of the sage db machine. She said
she'd get back to me. I also helped Greg test the event manager.

Trimfiles Fixed

The error in the trimfiles script eluded me. So I "fixed" the
problem by incorporating the subroutine it said it couldn't find into
the caller. Other than that, it was a quiet day.

Trimfiles

The trimfiles script I wrote for Lynn threw an error. It's a
problem with the subroutine namespace. I don't know how it happened,
but I'm trying to debug it.

No Op

Not much accomplished today. I checked the results of the
bouncefile script, because it looked like there were problems with the
results. I can see a potential problem with three strikes and you're
out critereon, but I can't wrap my head around an alternative yet.

Zobe Database Bug

I worked with Greg to solve the problem that Craig was having with
the Sybase database connector. The problem turned out to be not with
the connector, but with Zope itself. We found the fix on the Internet
and implemented a slightly different (hopefully better) version.

Twill Problems

I installed the latest version of Python (2.4.2) and then ran the
twill install. It bombed halfway through because it trie to write to
/usr/local, which is a read only filesystem. I looked at twill's setup
script, but wasn't able to resolve the problem.

Twill

I began installing Twill and saw that it needed a more modern version
of Python than we have, so I downloaded the latest. I hope to finish
the install tomorrow.

Another Try on Metrics

I wrote a new version of the Metrics script that does not halt when
it encounters an error and gave it to Mike. Sarah says that she could
not attach the RAID to Galex-Prod because it lacked an external scsi
connector. We will wait on the new hardware before attaching the
RAID. Hugh is our designated person to do the new hardware install.
