I finished writing the two gyro mode script. I still need to document
it and I also want to take a closer look at Ron's script to verify
that there are no remaining problems.

I also wrote mktemplate, A simple script that uses html comments to
demarcate the template portion of the code from its html framing and
copies the form that invokes the cgi script from that web in order to
duplicate its look and feel in the template.

I uncovered a problem with the underlying idl program used by the two
gyro script. It failed silently when passed an out of range date. I
suggested that the idl program signal my script when this was the
case. Ron Downes implemented one solution, but I suggested a btter
one.

Mike Wiggs uncovered a problem when using metadata items that are
select lists in the end user editor. I did some preliminary
investigation and suggested that it be worked as a call. The end user
editor was backed out and it will be worked as a call.

I also did the next module in the Java training.

I've got the two gyro mode script working, though there still are a
few rough edges. The underlying idl program was hanging, but that was
resolved by reordering some statements in the program. You can try
out the script, as
long as you remember that the only two data files are for ra=0 dec=0
and ra=3:40 dec=-30. I asked Ron if it was ok for input to be minutes
and seconds instead of decimal and he thought the astronomers would
prefer that.

The remaining work is to add the Zope front end, fix the few remaining
problems, and add documentation to the script. We will probably have
to also consult with Mike Watterson on installation.

I did more work on the two gyro mode script. I got it working again
from the command line, edited the html template to get it look halfway
acceptable, and started debugging it as a cgi script. It looks like it
can't see the data files as I have it currently configured.

I was on vacation yesterday.

I made some fixes to problems that Mike Wiggs uncovered in the end
user editor. And I made changes to the twogyro script to accomodate
Ron's new version of the script.

I worked all day on the TwoGyro mode script and debugged it to the point
where it writes an html output file. It still seems to produce bogus
output for the no parameters case, which I will have to look at.
