Today's Work

I finished testing the first version of the Mac spyware script. More needs to be added, especially all the modules that will perform the tests.

Today's Work

The Mac spyware script (ews.pl) continues to grow and multiply. I wrote the framework code and started writing the first test module. I also modified the metatdata form of the end user editor so that it can be used stand alone and checked the result back into CVS.

Today's Work

I spent the day working on the Mac spyware script, which I'm calling ews. I decided on using rsync to do the client/server communication, located a Perl rsync wrapper, and wrote code to see how it works. I'm still trying to bend the code to my will.

Today's Work

I finished testing the revisions to the end user editor and asked that it be moved back to test. I then resumed work on the rewrite problem.

Today's Work

I coded and tested the modification to the end user editor that I mentioned yesterday.

Today's Work

I wrote a memo about the rewrite rule problem and compiled a list of problem urls. A problem with the end user editor came up and I sent around a proposed solution.

Today's Work

I uploaded all the two gyro mode plots that have been finished into Zope and ripped the wysiwyg editor out of the end user editor.

Today's Work

I couldn't leave well enough alone. All my software was working correctly, but my conversion script (ximage.pl) was creating large gif files (300 k). Not only would this have bloated the Zope database (there will be about 7500 images) it would make running the script from outside the institute slow. I looked around for a program to shrink gif files and eventually found one. (They're hard to locate because of the gif patent question.) I compiled it tested it, and incorporated it in my script. Now the gif files are about 10 k.

Today's Work

I'm pretty much finished with the two gyro mode stuff. I set up index_html to invoke skysearch and display the results and I wrote ximage.pl to convert the image from Postscript to gif, rotate it, and write its metadata file.

Today's Work

After much fiddling I got the skysearch script to work (mostly).
