- STScI has solved the problem with
PYDrizzle. ACS mosaic of the Orion Nebula is being rebuilt.
WHO IS MASSIMO ROBBERTO?
I am Full Scientist at the Space
Telescope Science Institute (STScI). I'm working within the Instrument Division
as Instrument Scientist for the Wide Field
Camera 3, the last instrument to be installed on the Hubble Space Telescope.
My main expertise is the concept, development and operations of new infrared
instrumentation, both for ground and space astronomy. My
main research field is Star Formation, the Orion Nebula in
particular. Currently, my main scientific project is leading the HST Treasury Program
on the Orion Nebula Cluster (GO10246), awarded with 104 orbits of HST time in Cycle
13 for the study of the Orion Nebula Cluster. This is the largest Hubble program
ever dedicated to Star Formation and has produced one of the most beautiful
images ever made by Hubble (available here).
I have some other research programs, including:
- Measuring the parallax of the Orion Nebula Cluster with the HST (PI, HST
GO 10552)
- Discovery of HI in circumstellar disks (PI, VLA observations with E.Keto
and I.Kamp)
- Cryogenic Characterization of DMD devices (PI, with J. Mackenty)
- IRMOS spectroscopy of substellar pre-main-sequence objects (PI, Kitt
Peak 4m program with K. Smith, M.Meyer and J.Mackenty)
- IRMOS spectroscopy of the most massive galactic clusters (Kitt Peak 4m, D.
Figer PI)
- Stellar classification of ONC stars (Kitt Peak WYIN, L. Hillenbrand PI)
- Hubble Ultra Deep Field and Ultra Deep Follow-up (HST, M. Stiavelli PI)
- 10micron interferometry of massive stars (VLTI, C. Leinert PI)
The purpose of this page is to provide updates on my scientific research in progress or in
advance
of publication, distribute preprints and
reprints of my work, information on my projects, various
data sets on star formation, some useful links, and a bit of
personal information.
